Troubleshooting: Cloudy Water

  • Cause:Water not in balance Solution: Test your water for Ph, Calicum & Alkalinity. Make sure all of these factors are in balance.
  • Cause:Dirty or Damaged Spa Cartridge Filter Solution: Your spa cartridge should be replaced once a year. A good idea is to have two sets of filters and swtich them out every 3-4 months, cleaning the newly removed set before storage. National Discount Pool Supplies carries replacement hot tub filters for almost every single spa model made.
  • Cause: Old Spa Water Solution: Your spa water should be changed every 3-4 months. This is very crucial when it comes to keeping your hot tub water looking sparkling clear 24/7. Another great way to help keep your water clear is by using Spa Purge by natural Chemistry at least once a year when draining your spa.

    Troubleshooting: Excessive Foam

Excessive foaming in your spa can be caused by a few different things in your spa:

  • Cause: Low Calcium Hardness. Solution: Test your water balance and adjust the calcium if necessary
  • Cause: Addition of incompatible chemicals Solution: Make sure you are not adding any other brand shocks, oxidizers, or sanitizers. Drain your spa and refill.
  • Cause: Build-up of body oils, hair products, etc. Solution: Add an extra dose of Brilliance Oxidizer. To help prevent this problem, add Spa Perfect by Natural Chemistry into your spa weekly.
  • Cause: Old Water Solution: Your spa water should be changed every 3-4 months, along with chemically cleaning your hot tub filter.

    Troubleshooting: Water Odor

  • Cause:Inadequate cleaning of spa cover Solution: Clean the underside of the spa cover with Brilliance Cover Cleaner
  • Inadequate cleaning of your cartridge filter. Solution: Your filter should be chemically cleaned every 3-4 months (generally when you drain your hot tub water) with Brilliance for Spas filter Cleaner
  • Cause:Insufficient Oxidation. Solution: Make sure you are adding the correct amount of Brilliance Oxidizer. One of the main reasons spa owners are adding the incorrect oxidizer is because they have the wrong amount of gallons their spa holds. Check with your spa manufacturer.

    Troubleshooting: Eye & Skin Irritation

  • Cause: Water not in balance Solution:Test your water balance and adjust if necessary. Unbalanced Ph & Alkalinity can greatly affect eye & skin irritation along with affecting your equipment if it is not properly balanced.
  • Cause:Inadequate Brilliance Sanitizer Level Solution: Check your Brilliance for Spas floater setting. Add Brilliance sanitizer if necessary. If your bromine (brilliance sanitizer) level is too high, dial down the setting on your floater.

    Troubleshooting: Throat Irritation

  • Cause:Improper Aeration of spa Solution: Check your Brilliance for Spas floater settings. You may need to improve ventilation of an indoor spa if the problem persists.
